Official website for home entertainment release of American Pie: The Book of Love. Included several rich media sections that delved deeper into the film with several interactive games, post-card generator, sweepstakes, photo galleries, gift guide, and more.
We recreated the actual book prop from the movie in digital form using film-used prop and filled out with extra pages and illustrations that I needed to create.
What a Tease
Due to the R-rated nature of the film and it’s website content, the entire experience was locked behind an age gate.
Page Turner
We received the actual prop of the book from the studio and were able to take high-resolution scans of the book for use in the experience. After passing the age-gate, the book slid up on the page, opened up automatically, flew a couple of pages in before landing on the main landing page.
Landing Page
From the main Landing Page the user was presented automatically with a summary about THE STORY (right page), a BIOS section presented with rollover hotspots (left page), and EXCLUSIVE VIDEO section (the pink bra). The nav on the right of the book was the main portal to the remaining sections of the book.
Add Your Story
An important element for this hub was to pay tribute to the book itself around which the American Pie franchise was centered. In the films, the book was made up with tips and suggestions on how to be the ultimate lady’s man and the web version was intended to be the same; allowing users to enter their own tips and stories.
Stress Relief Sweeps
A standard sweepstakes giving user the chance to win a fully paid trip to Las Vegas.
Fooling Around Games
This was an especially silly section to create. I created hand-drawn paper sketches, typography, and elements which I then scanned to use in the book. I also used a font generator to turn my hand-writing into a font to use through-out the book.
Insert Head Here Postcard Creator
A post-card generator that let you put your face into various scenes from the film and email them to friends.
Rack Report Boob Match Game
Look, it was a different time.
American Pie Video Quiz
Movie trivia quiz which unlocked exclusive clips and videos.
Unlock the Page
This was a straightforward section in which users were asked to solve a simple puzzle to gain access to exclusive content on the Universal Studios official website.

A straight forward gallery with highlights from the franchise key moments.
