A custom destination website for LEGO BIONICLE to introduce the elemental golden masks around which their toy playsets were based. This “tour across the internet” is a simulated experience in which users find the golden masks hidden on web pages to activate custom animations related to each respective mask’s elemental power. Finding all six masks ultimately unlocked the final portal which featured the client’s video.
Beginning the Journey
Animations
The journey across the internet spanned across six websites. Each mask was linked to an elemental power that tied to a particular location on the mystical island. Each mask’s power was reflected on the reskin that appeared around the website. Finding each mask unlocked a transition sequence to the next site with animation inspired by each respective elemental power.
We transitioned from Jungle to Water with a flurry of bubbles; Water to Snow with a frosty flurry; Snow to Caves with a rumbling rockslide; Caves to Desert with a sweeping sandstorm; and Desert to Volcano with wall of flames. With all six masks found, the final mask that over powers them all literally BURST through the final page with a rocky explosion that followed a brief earthquake. The website crumbled to reveal the final branded area with client messaging and exclusive video.
